WP Plug-Ins
May 7th, 2006 . by Dr. John W. Horn PhDFor those of you new to blogging, a “plug-in” is simply this: a little piece of code you upload to your WordPress server, activate it, customize it using available options or make hard code changes yourself to enhance the functionality of your blog. WordPress Plug-Ins can include advertising plug-ins, forms, sitemaps, image handlers, and more. The best WordPress plug-ins for the novice user don’t require any knowledge of PHP or coding. Make sure you print out or create a “favorites” folder for the instructions as they will come in handy.
Most WordPress plug-ins free and open source. Please be kind and reference the plug-ins that you are using on your blog. If you don’t want all the active links to the WordPress plug-in creator on the main page, create a new page and name it “WordPress Plug-Ins” or put them at the bottom of your About page. Most of the “creators” of WordPress plug-ins will provide some level of support, keep in mind that they’re giving you their hard work for free and probably have real job type jobs, so make sure to thank them for their help and be patient when waiting for a response.
If you find a cool WordPress plug-in that we’ve missed, or have one of your own, email us at blog@blog-template-layout.com and we’ll check it out.
Here’s the plug-ins we use and recommend.
